World Internet Summit 2008 Auckland Review
This year, World Internet Summit has come to New Zealand for the very first time. I feel very fortunate to become one of those audiences and be able to witness a magnificent series of speeches put up in the seminar. No doubt I can say it’s one of the best seminars I have ever attended in my life. Not only for the information received from those Internet Marketing “gurus”, but the inspiration that triggered has been terrific. There is absolutely abundance of good speakers, who know how to engage the audience.
I have been building my online business for quite some time before attending the live session in Auckland, and have been crawling my way through various obstacles. I am really impressed with the way those speakers’ ability to simplify the complexity. Many times you hear something like 4 simple steps, 7 easy ways, 5 big formula and etc. Those are all summarized by the most successful Internet entrepreneurs all over the world.
However not everything is perfect, as the ticket price ($199 AUS) suggested. I would like to take a sight critical view of it. I came to the event knowing every single speaker on the stage has got his/her powerful secrets for success, but no matter how hard to actively capture those tips, there seem never fully manifest itself. Different folks may view this differently. From a software developer’s point of view, I would rather perceive from a realistic angle to see how this could apply upon ordinary people who has got a full time job working 40 hours a week to earn a living online.
Ironically one of the real solid things that I have learnt so far is how to make a sale pitch. There seems to be a golden unanimous rule behind, which follows as great value promises, guarantee of earnings, heaps of testimonies, followed by unreasonable first quote, then a deep-deep discount or two. Of course lots of bonuses is a must, or even a surprise bonus to be disclosed. When people’s adrenaline starts to flood in, you will be told number is limited and scarcity counts! I can perfectly understand this, as all the speakers are here to sell their products.
So overall, it’s a big success considering the amount of enrollment to the mentorship, and level of enthusiasm displayed throughout. Many of us have got full-time jobs and pulling yourself out of bed early Sunday morning could be tough unless you have solid reasons to convince yourself, personally I regard marketing skill as one of the life skills either online and offline. Therefore well done Tom Hua and Brett McFall. Thanks for bringing that to New Zealand.
